Lake Hillier

Lake Hillier is a renowned, naturally pink, saline lake located on Middle Island in the Recherche Archipelago off the coast of Esperance, Western Australia. Famous for its vibrant bubblegum-pink color—caused by microorganisms like Dunaliella salina—the 600-meter-long lake is separated from the blue Southern Ocean by a narrow strip of sand dunes. It is primarily viewed via scenic flights, though boat tours are available, as it is a protected nature reserve.
